About Lava Lamp Ledger

I collect lava lamps, and I kept running into the same problem: stores release new designs all the time, many of them exclusive to one store, and once a lamp sells out there is no record that it ever existed. Lava Lamp Ledger is my answer to that.

What the site tracks

Every LAVA® brand lamp sold online at Spencer's, Target, Kohl's, Amazon, Collectors' Choice Music, and lavalamp.com, going back as far as each store's archived pages allow (2012 for Target, 2015 for Spencer's). For each lamp you'll find when it first and last appeared, its size, wax and liquid colors, item or model number, price, whether it's in stock, and whether the store calls it an exclusive or a licensed design. Glitter and vortex lamps are left out.

How it stays current

An automated checker I built visits each store twice a day. When it finds a new design, a restock, or a price drop, it updates this site and posts an alert to the Lava Lamp Drops page on Facebook, with a link straight to the store.

Older dates come from archived copies of each store's website, so treat a "first listed" date as the month a lamp was known to be for sale rather than its exact launch day. Each store page explains how its dates were worked out.

Found a mistake?

Collectors know these lamps better than any store listing does. If a date, color, or detail is wrong, or a lamp is missing, use the Report a problem link on that lamp or at the bottom of any page. Reports come straight to me, and corrections usually show up within a day.

The fine print

This is an independent fan project, not affiliated with any store or with the makers of LAVA® lamps. Some store links may earn a small commission; see the affiliate disclosure and privacy policy.
